Reverend Granville Senior – Consultant
Granville A. Senior, M.Div. - Sr. Pastor: Granville A. Senior was appointed Assistant Pastor of United Church of Jesus Christ, Bronx, in 1989 and in 2004 he was installed as the Senior Pastor. A graduate of Mico Teachers’ College, Jamaica, W.I., Pastor Senior commenced his career on the island as a teacher of both primary and secondary school education. After migrating to the United States in 1976, he continued his academic pursuit, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration (Accounting Major), and a Master of Science Degree in Accounting from Manhattan College and City University of New York, respectively.
In preparation for the work of the ministry, Pastor Senior enrolled as a student of the Church of Christ Bible Institute, graduating in 2005 with a Bachelor of Religious Education degree. Subsequently, he enrolled as a matriculated student at Nyack Alliance Theological Seminary and graduated in May 2016 with a Master of Divinity Degree in Urban Theology.
In 1983, he was hired by the New York State Attorney General’s Office as an Auditor Investigator, rising through the ranks to Principal Auditor Investigator in the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit. After a distinguished career of 31 years of law enforcement service with the Attorney General’s Office, he retired in May 2014. Worth noting also, is that while still employed at the Attorney General’s Office, he was an adjunct lecturer of Accounting at City University of New York, Bronx Community College campus, from 1990-1994.
Pastor Senior is a visionary. He embraces most challenges with the fervor and rigor of a soldier, and recognizes that he is only a channel through which God’s battles are won. He is very much community-oriented and in addition to his passion for the declaration of the gospel, he approaches ministry from an incarnational perspective by “moving into the neighborhood,” continually seeking for ways in which he can help to improve the spiritual and socio-economic life of residents in the community he serves.
Pastor Senior’s love for the Lord, devotion to the duties of the ministry and altruistic spirit, coupled with his ability to work in tandem with those who share the same zeal for the kingdom of God, regardless of denominational identity, have all contributed to making a difference in the lives of the people he so passionately cares about. Over and above all, he has an insatiable desire to carry out the Great Commission to “go into all the world and preach the Gospel.”
